Hello everyone, welcome back.
How is the quarantine going?
Today, I’ll be reviewing a book by Toni Morrison, it is titled The bluest eye.
The bluest eye was the first book written by Toni Morrison.
This book addresses the harsh consequences of racism in the united states, it explains how the people saw black as ugly.
The character portrayed as ugly never knew her beauty, she only saw what there was to see; she saw her beauty in the eyes of others which unfortunately for her was UGLY.
The story tells us about her life and how she was treated by the people around her including her parents.
Her mother treated her like trash.
Her father raped her and got her pregnant at the age of 12, students at school never liked her and all she ever wanted were blue eyes, because she equated them to beauty.
This book also highlighted how elders treated the younger ones; the author made us understand that growing up, the younger ones were taught that the older one got, the wiser they became. They were told not to initiate conversations with grownups, they just had to answer their questions.
I would encourage everyone to read this book, it’s not just a regular story, it goes beyond that.
Finally, beauty isn’t just something to behold, it’s something one can do.
Thank you so much for reading, let me know what you think in the comment session.
See you soonπ.
Okay! Would definitely give it a read!
